El aguacate, también conocido como la fruta de los dioses, podría ser la fruta perfecta.  Si lo comparamos con el plátano, podemos decir que contiene más potasio (486mg vs. 358mg) y mucho menos azúcar (12,33gr vs. menos de 1gr). Si sustituimos el aguacate por el plátano, ayudaremos a mantener el diseño alcalino del cuerpo, ya que libraremos a la sangre del azúcar del plátano, que cuando es maduro nos resulta acidificante.

100 gramos de aguacate contienen 2 gramos de proteínas y 14,66 gramos de ácido Oleico, que ayuda a reducir el ácido metabólico y de la dieta y por consiguiente, a reducir las necesidades de colesterol LDL. El beneficio estrella del aguacate es tiene un alto contenido en fitonutrientes: Luteína y Zeaxantina (271ug vs. los 22ug que contiene el plátano). No hay duda de que el aguacate es una fruta altamente alcalinizadora y saludable. Yo recomiendo comer al menos 2 o 3 aguacates al día y evitar el consumo de plátanos, ya que maduros nos resultan acidificantes.

De entre todos los aceites denominados beneficiosos para la salud, el aceite de aguacate es considerado uno de los más saludables.  El aceite de oliva y el de aguacate contienen grasas monoinsaturadas que ayudan a disminuir el nivel total de colesterol y el colesterol lipoproteíco de baja densidad (LDL) en la sangre al disminuir la acidez, beneficiando de esta forma nuestra salud.

Elegir aceite de oliva o de aguacate se podría comparar con la elección de un vino.  Existen distintos tipos, algunos tienen más sabor y otros ofrecen más beneficios para la salud.

Virgen, virgen extra o refinado: los aceites vírgenes o vírgenes extra de oliva o aguacate tienden a ser más ricos en polifenoles (un antioxidante muy poderoso) que los aceites más procesados. Los antioxidantes se consideran beneficiosos porque ayudan al cuerpo a eliminar las moléculas ácidas o ácidos metabólicos o dietéticos y minimizan la inflamación celular ácida dañina.
